Want to take a screen shot on your mac? There are a couple of useful keyboard short cuts that you should remember – I say remember, I normally hit a few different combinations till it works but you can be better than me.

  1. To take a photo (.PNG) of your entire screen and save it to your desktop press cmd – shift – 3, beware this will capture all your screens.
  2. To take the the same photo as above but place it on your clipboard rather than saving it to a file press cmd – ctrl – shift – 3.
  3. To take a photo (.PNG) of a portion of your screen and save it to your desktop press cmd – shift – 4 this will turn your cursor into a crosshair and you can draw a box around the thing you want to capture.
  4. To take the the same photo as above of a partial screen but place it on your clipboard rather than saving it to a file press cmd – ctrl – shift – 4.

Hope this helps, any comments – leave them below!
